Ingredients

  • 1 cup milk, divided
  • 1 Tbsp Cacao Powder
  • 3 Tbsp maple syrup, divided
  • 1/3 cup frozen cherries
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp cornstarch
  • 1/2 tsp water
  • whipped cream for topping (optional, but delicious)

Directions

  1. 1. In a medium bowl, combine the Oatsome Classic Overnight Oats with the milk and mix well. Divide evenly between two bowls. Leave one bowl plain and stir the cacao powder into the second bowl. Cover both bowls and refrigerate, preferably overnight (though 1 hour will also work).
  2. 2. Meanwhile, add the frozen cherries, vanilla, salt, and maple syrup to a small saucepan. Bring to a simmer over medium heat, about 5 minutes, until saucy. In a small bowl, mix the water and cornstarch until smooth, then pour into the saucepan. Bring to a boil to thicken, then remove from heat.
  3. 3. To assemble, layer the classic oats, chocolate oats, and cherry compote. Top with whipped cream and enjoy.
